Area 51 Early Season Park Laps - Snowboarding 2015/16

Area 51 Early Season Park Laps - Snowboarding 2015/16

Area 51 Terrain Park Shredding

This is the first video I shot after a catastrophic ankle injury from the previous season that is still plaguing me to this day.

At the time, I could barely walk or even stand, but somehow I had it in me to follow my buddy Alec down the terrain park a few times.

I have been producing snowboarding and action sports videos in the High Country of Colorado for three-years at the time of this blog post. See more about this freestyle snowboarding video.

Although the terrain park has been my main focus, keep an eye out for an upcoming downhill mountain biking video and some different outdoor mountain activity videos.

This video was captured at the Area 51 terrain park in Keystone, CO.

This is my third season shooting at Area 51. It is also my first season shooting in the park on a DSLR.

Previous seasons were follow-cam shoots using a GoPro and a 3-axis Feiyu Tech gimbal.

I hope to purchase a gimbal for the DSLR this Winter. If that happens, my next video will be a combination of DSLR follow cam shots and slider shots with a long lens, utilizing depth of field.

The featured rider in this video is my friend and roommate for the first two-seasons, Alec Vandeweerd.

In previous years, I was next to the rider from the top to the bottom of each run. This year, I was stationary.

On our first shoot day of the season, I shot for about an hour and decided that I had way too much time to kill be tween each time Alec dropped in, so I began shooting every rider and skier that came by.

At the end of the season, I've got a good video, much needed experience shooting on the new Sony A7, I learned a few lessons, and I'm excited to start shooting again soon.
